..little steamboat.. by db-imagery ..little steamboat.. by db-imagery
little falls, along steamboat creek, in the umpqua national forest, douglas county, oregon. we spotted this vantage, from the jeep, on our way down the road to the falls...it kinda makes the falls look smallish, but, it's only about a ten foot drop to begin with(hence the name)..i'll post a closer shot soon.. comments are welcome and :+fav:'s always appreciated! thanks for looking:)

this is what landscape photography is all about! really puts me in your shoes..as if i was the one there. a beautiful scene perfectly composed..the perfect balance of sky and water with excellent lines in the tree layers to guide you through, but not get lost, and that also create some nice depth to the view. a superb capture, my friend! :)

Beautiful shot, I love that area and look forward to returning there in the summer. A lot of salmon supposedly spawn in that area.

You're welcome. I don't know where Deadline falls is. I'll have to check it out when I go back in the summer. :) There's a lot of places along the Umpqua I need to see.

Wow, it's beautiful. But for me, it's special for a different reason: I am part Coos indian, which are associated with Umpqua/ Suislaw indian tribes.
When I was a kid, my Dad and Grandpa took my brothers & I hunting deer, grouse, and quail out in this area every season.
My parents would take us up here to pick berries, too.
We often caught crawdads (like a miniature freshwater lobster) to cook up in the creeks.

These are some of the traditional hunting & foraging grounds of my ancestors - definitely have to "fave" this! :)

Thank you for sharing all of the awesome photos (and great compositions, btw).
I had to send the links to my brother, he's pretty active in making traditional art from our heritage. :)

You can see his work at reeltrout.com
The Coos indians (and all the Umpqua/ Siuslaw tribes) are related to the Tlingit, Athabascan and Haida in Alaska.
Same type totems, dugout canoes, fishing techniques, etc. :)
He does mostly realistic fish carvings (some birds and other stuff) but he has some really nice native totem fish that are half real and half totem.
