you must share your equation for square crops compositions with me! they are always perfectly finished as to not appear cropped but taken square for the get go. excellent exposure creating some nice texture in the water and great designs in the clouds. beautiful capture, doug
..and i'd be happy to share..can go a couple ways..first if you didn't take for square and are just cropping to simplify, then i'm just using a 5x5'' crop in elements to get to square and just play with placement from there..the latest technique i found is my graph on my lcd..it's divided up into thirds, and i'll compose vertically and leave off either the top or bottom third of the graph to compose in a perfect square..hopefully that wasn't too confusing
not confusing at all...very helpful actually! think my biggest problem is even when i know that i want the final outcome to be square i still compose for the rectangle..most helpful part was the vertical composing, thats really what i need to focus on thanks again!
...after playing w/some comps and that technique, i've found that if i use the thirds graph in the horizontal, i can still use the horizontal , third lines to help w/composition(horizon) as well as being able to still compose only within the right or left two thirds of the graph for a perfect square...and can still settle the comp inbetween the thirds if you want it centered...now, how's that for confusing ...just passing it along as it gets refined is all hope it may someday, proove helpful!
just kidding! definitely a good tip as well..can better see myself composing in the 2/3 corner, then readjusting a tad to snap the shot in between..giving me some margin for error, truly appreciated bud
No problem, I think I have been to this wonderful spot.. I am happy to see the Oregon pics especially when I have also been there live..You have done my coastline a wonderful service by showing her beauty.
