Sometimes ropes have no meaning and trails were meant to be explored. Who are we to fence anything off? I understand the need to protect areas but it shoulldn't be to the deprivation of Mother Earths natural beauty to all. There are places here in the Black Hills that are roped off...out of bounds...closed--whatever you want to call it--that will be that way probably forever. Makes me sad.
...i just experienced the arizona desert for the first time...it seemed like most of it was either, you stay on the trail, or get yelled at by the trail police...makes me sad too, brother

Been looking on the Arches National Park website and I think it's going to be that way there too
